FAQ
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN ELDER CARE COMPANION AND A NURSE?
An elder care companion is an individual who is trained and experienced in taking care of the patient’s or the elders’ day-to-day needs such as maintaining personal hygiene, bathing, toilet needs, movement assistance, accompanying the patient, administering oral medication and maintaining vital charts while a nurse is a certified medical practitioner that is qualified to administer IV/IM injections, infusions and can perform invasive dressing based upon the severity of the wound. They are also qualified to perform procedures like tracheostomy, colostomy, cannulization, and suction etc.
The attendants are appointed at the service of the elderly or patients who do not need any medical assistance and the nurses are appointed for patients or elderly with more medical dependence.
WHAT IS THE BASIC QUALIFICATION OF AN ELDER CARE COMPANION?
The basic qualification of an elder care companion can be anywhere between 10th class to graduation. However, we make sure that they can read, write and comprehend basic English and are proficient in Hindi so they can perform their duties properly.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF STAFF VERIFICATION?
We verify our staff internally by performing address and document checks. However, if our patrons request a more thorough verification, we can have that done separately which takes approx. 7-10 days.
WHAT IS THE SHIFT SYSTEM OF THE STAFF?
We provide staff in morning, evening or live-in shifts. The morning and evening shift staff commute to the duty every day while the live-in staff is for patients who need more stable arrangements.
WHAT DO WE HAVE TO PROVIDE THE STAFF THAT COMES FOR DUTY?
As patrons, you are responsible for the safety of the staff while treating them with respect. As far as the physical responsibilities go, in morning or evening shifts, a cup of tea, or ensuring fresh water for drinking should be provided as a basic necessity. In live-in shifts, regular and sufficient meals, safe and suitable sleeping arrangement and a clean bathroom is expected. In case of an insufficiency, the same needs to be informed beforehand so as to make the staff aware about what to expect and adjust accordingly.
WHAT IS THE LEAVE AND BACK-UP SYSTEM?
Whenever the staff needs a leave, it is mandatory for them to inform the service coordinator and stay on duty until the replacement/back-up staff reports for the duty. Hence, if the staff requests you for a leave or to leave early, as patrons, you are requested to instruct them to report the same to their service coordinators immediately and wait until they receive an approval. Once the information is received, their replacement is arranged and the leave is recorded. The staff is then supposed to be released post completion of a handover as required.
WHAT IS THE PAYMENT POLICY?
The payments are done on a 15 days’ advance basis. The payment can be done via cash/ cheque/ online transfer or UPI.
WHAT IF I PAY FOR THE SERVICE AND I DO NOT FIND IT SATISFACTORY OR THE STAFF DOESN’T SHOW UP?
As a reputed company working in Delhi/NCR for more than 5 years, we assure that your money is safe with us and in case of any situation where the service is discontinued, a refund is generated based upon the number of duty days served. The refund is credited in the bank account of the patron within 5-7 working days. The patrons are kept posted about the progress of their refund on a regular basis.
DOES THE STAFF COOK?
As caregivers, our staff are not allowed to cook, clean floors/bathrooms or wash clothes or utensils at the patient’s households. However, they can prepare light meals like porridge or mashed feed, cut fruits, and prepare tea/coffee for the patient. They can also put the clothes away for washing or soak them in disinfectant in case of a patient soiling them. We expect our patrons to maintain the distinction between a patient care attendant and a maid/domestic housekeeper to ensure proper care of the patient.
